Rumor has it that the Atlanta Hawks are canvassing the market for a big man, and though they haven't been directly linked to Myles Turner, they should be. Atlanta has the type of assets that could be very valuable to the Milwaukee Bucks, who are entering a new era after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, making them a natural trade partner. Here is a trade package.

Why the Hawks do it

NBA insiders Jake Fischer and Marc Stein (subscription required) reported recently that the Hawks are actively hunting for frontcourt help. Turner, if he is indeed made available for trade this summer, could automatically vault his way up to the top of anyone's trade target wish list.

Though he is coming off a poor year with the Milwaukee Bucks, one has to wonder how much of that was due to him and how much was the poor environment. There is no denying that the Bucks weren't a good product from top to bottom. A fresh start could be needed to get him back on track.

If they think Turner can get back to being the two-way force that he was in Indiana—and that they are close to legitimate contention—perhaps the Hawks go all-in on right now and sacrifice a young piece in Kuminga and a valuable pick. It all depends on how much they value Turner.

Why the Bucks do it

The Bucks are facing somewhat of a roster crunch at the center spot, employing Turner, Kel'el Ware, and Jericho Sims. With the team pivoting to youth, Ware should take over as the starter from day one, which would require moving Turner. This would be a decent option.

While Kuminga's career has been headlined by his inconsistency, he has shown glimpses of being a strong player. At 23, he is still young and would fit in perfectly with the team's new timeline. Another power forward could be useful in filling out this Milwaukee Bucks roster.

That pick would also be incredibly valuable. It will be the least favorable between the Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans (top-four protected) next season. Even if the class isn't projected to be as strong as the 2026 group, a potentially high-rated first-round pick will always be desirable.

The Milwaukee Bucks should be taking calls on Myles Turner. While keeping him wouldn't be a terrible option, especially if their goal is to win, it would also make sense to move him if the return is strong.
