After a busy few months of retooling via free agency and the NBA Draft, many thought that the odds of the Milwaukee Bucks making another move were slim.
Well, though it's not a seismic move, the Bucks did bring in a new face, signing Anzejs Pasecniks to a two-way contract, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. On a two-way, Pasecniks will be able to split time between the NBA and the G-League and, in this case, will likely find more minutes in the latter.
That said, let's analyze the team's entire depth chart after this signing.
The Milwaukee Bucks depth chart
Point guard - Damian Lillard, Delon Wright, AJ Johnson, Ryan Rollins (Two-way)
Shooting guard - Gary Trent Jr., Pat Connaughton, AJ Green, Andre Jackson Jr., Stanley Umude (Two-way)
Small forward - Khris Middleton, Taurean Prince, MarJon Beauchamp, Chris Livingston
Power forward - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Smith
Center - Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Anzejs Pasecniks (Two-way)
To make room for their new center, the Milwaukee Bucks waived wing Jaylin Galloway. Given that Rollins put up a great showing in the Summer League while Umude was just recently signed, it felt inevitable that Galloway would be the two-way player to be let go. This should be the final tweak to the two-way players.
Another big man on the roster certainly won't hurt the Bucks. Pasecniks will be used as a depth piece in the event that one of Milwaukee's other power forwards or centers is absent. After watching the team scramble for big man depth after Brook Lopez got hurt during the 2021-22 NBA season, it's never a bad thing to bring in a "break glass in case of an emergency" big man.
The Milwaukee Bucks have a very well-balanced roster that will be extremely versatile this season. After this move, it'll be fascinating to see if the team is done making moves or if they are still plotting something before the 2024-25 campaign opens. They are still yet to make a trade, and everyone is aware how active they typically are on that front.
