With one roster spot left, the Milwaukee Bucks have a chance to bring in one more player before the 2024-25 NBA season begins.

There are still a handful of quality free agents on the market, but one player that not a lot of fans are likely pitching is Landry Shamet. Per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Bucks have expressed some level of exploratory interest in the free-agent sharpshooter.

Landry Shamet's potential fit on the Milwaukee Bucks

Immediately, this interest makes some sense because Shamet played under Bucks coach Doc Rivers for two years with the LA Clippers. Last season, once Rivers got hired on, the Bucks brought in both Patrick Beverley and Danilo Gallinari, both players who also played under him in Los Angeles. Rivers is a head coach who certainly likes players he has experience working with.

On the court, Shamet's sweet 3-point shooting would help him in Milwaukee. He's sunk 38.4 percent of his career 3-pointers and would give Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton a nice kick-out threat on the perimeter. With the team still needing a clear-cut shooting guard, stocking up on depth at the position is not a bad idea heading into training camp.

While he could give them another shooter, adding Shamet wouldn't do much for Milwaukee's defense. As evidenced by their free agent signings, they clearly want to bring in players who can help them on that side of things above all else, and Shamet just isn't that type of player.

Though there are positives with Shamet, he should not be their priority right now. With other players such as Lonnie Walker IV, Gary Trent Jr. and Dennis Smith Jr. still on the market, the Bucks utilizing a roster spot on Shamet would be a bit of a head-scratcher. Those players may command bigger deals, but until they put pen to paper, the Milwaukee Bucks should be hounding them about a minimum deal.

It seems like it'll only be a matter of time before the Milwaukee Bucks fill that final roster spot, but they shouldn't pounce on Shamet with all of the other high-end names still available. If all of those players end up getting snatched, then conversations can possibly be had about Shamet.
