Bucks worked out one of 2024 NBA Draft's "best-kept secrets"
By Dalton Sell
The 2024 NBA Draft is coming up, and the Milwaukee Bucks will be armed with two selections, one in each round.
Of course, everyone is waiting to find out whether the Bucks plan on keeping those picks and adding young talent or if they will trade them to land more proven players. Both avenues have their own pros and cons. The front office is currently operating as if they will have at least one pick, as they continue to work out prospects ahead of the draft.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reports that the Bucks have worked out Trentyn Flowers, who he called one of the "NBA draft’s best-kept secrets."
How Trentyn Flowers would fit with the Milwaukee Bucks
Flowers, who plays for the Adelaide 36ers of the NBL, is an eye-catching prospect for the Bucks, who desperately need help on the wing. At 6-foot-7, Flowers would indeed give the Bucks a bigger wing to replenish their depth and provide some needed athleticism. He's shown glimpses of strong play on both sides of the basketball court, but he also has plenty of areas to work on skill-wise.
Speaking on that last point, one possible concern with Flowers is that he's just 19 years old. While the Bucks will certainly be on the hunt for more youth this off-season, they may look for someone who is just a tad more polished and ready to contribute at the NBA level. Perhaps Flowers could help, but at his age, the odds of him being ready to help this title-or-bust team from the jump are not in his favor.
The most prominent recurring talking point with Flowers is that he'll need time to develop, which is quite understandable for someone his age. He may be too raw of a prospect for a Milwaukee team that is built to contend now. While he could eventually become an electric player, the Bucks have to ask themselves if adding someone who might not be ready to contribute right away is the best play.
It is welcoming to hear that the Milwaukee Bucks are keeping an eye on wings ahead of the draft, but Trentyn Flowers may be a bit of a gamble right now.
