Damian Lillard's new workout partner will have the Bucks guard in great shape
By Dalton Sell
At this point, it's well-known that Damian Lillard wasn't in tip-top shape when he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a blockbuster move last offseason.
It wasn't because the guard was lazy; he just couldn't hit the gym due to risk of injury as he waited to be traded away from the Portland Trail Blazers. The entire process took longer than he likely would have preferred, as he landed in Milwaukee just days before training camp, giving him little to no time to get into shape and build chemistry with his teammates.
Though he was still an All-Star, Lillard's overall play was clearly impacted by the situation, so he's doing everything in his power to get into shape ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. The guard has been posting his rigorous workouts during the summer as he braces for his second season with the Milwaukee Bucks, and his latest one featured an eye-catching guest.
Bucks' Damian Lillard has been working out with David Goggins
On his Instagram, Lillard recently posted a clip of him working out with David Goggins, who is known for his intense workouts always making the rounds on social media. Goggins is a known Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist and triathlete. If you want to improve your conditioning, he's the person you want to work with, though you might hate it in the moment due to the intensity.
As evidenced in Lillard's post, Goggins was putting the star point guard through the ringer during the conditioning workout they endured, pushing him to his limits.
Bucks fans should be smiling ear to ear seeing Lillard getting into excellent shape ahead of the new season. He's clearly heard all of the disrespect that has been directed at him and the Bucks lately, and he's out to prove the doubters wrong in 2024-25. David Goggins is doing his part to help.
With an in-shape Lillard, a healthy Giannis Antetokounmpo, a surgically repaired Khris Middleton and a revamped supporting cast, the Milwaukee Bucks are out to prove they're still contenders.
