It's interesting that Ryan Rollins remains a free agent several days into the offseason after it felt so certain that he'd be back with the Milwaukee Bucks. It appears he could be back on the roster soon, though, as HoopsHype's Yossi Gozlan says that after waiving Chris Livingston, the Bucks should have enough money to offer Rollins a new deal over the minimum, as they have Early Bird rights.
Bringing Rollins back would be a no-brainer for the Bucks
As it stands, the Milwaukee Bucks have one standard point guard on the roster, and it's Kevin Porter Jr., who is also a two-guard when needed. Milwaukee needs more ball-handlers in the backcourt, so keeping an energetic combo guard like Rollins makes all the sense in the world. This duo showed potential late in the year as they filled in and earned big minutes. The Bucks should build on that.
After letting go of Livingston, the front office should be on the phone with him immediately, trying to get something done with the young guard.
Rollins would fit right in with this mini youth makeover the Milwaukee Bucks are embracing. With the Bucks last season, he went from two-way guard to key starter, and with him set to turn 23 in the next few days, he's got plenty of room to grow. That growth should come with a Milwaukee team that needs help in the backcourt after surprisingly letting Damian Lillard go.
The young guard could very well bloom into a major success story.
On the other side of things, Chris Livingston is looking for a new home two years after the Bucks gave him the largest deal for a final pick in a draft ever. In his two seasons, he averaged just 4.7 minutes per game, barely seeing the court. He had potential due to his athleticism and physical profile, but he was just so raw and never had a chance to show it.
At 21, he's still incredibly young, so it wouldn't be surprising if someone else picked him up.
The Milwaukee Bucks have had a busy summer, but they aren't done making moves just yet. Even if they re-sign Ryan Rollins, it wouldn't be surprising if they had one or two more moves up their sleeve. After the surprise move for Myles Turner, which came out of nowhere, never say never.
