As he embarks on a new journey with the Milwaukee Bucks, staying healthy must be Tyler Herro's top priority. The injury bug has bitten Herro various times throughout his career, hindering his availability. With so much hinging on how well he performs this season, one injury could derail everything he has been working toward and hopes to achieve in Milwaukee.

Injuries have hindered Tyler Herro in the past

Milwaukee's new guard appeared in more than 65 contests three times in seven years with the Heat. He was the Sixth Man of the Year in one of those seasons and an All-Star in another. When he's fully healthy, Tyler Herro is an excellent player. The question is whether he can stay available consistently.

The guard did little to calm these fears last season. In fact, it was the opposite. He appeared in just 33 games this past season, a career low, due to various issues. He missed the start of the season due to ankle surgery and could never get into a rhythm due to issues with his toe, quad, and more. It resulted in his production dipping after what had been his best statistical season.

If that version of Herro joins the Milwaukee Bucks, they are in a world of trouble. As Bucks fans saw with Giannis Antetokounmpo last season, it's hard to win when your best player is injured. If he were to miss significant time, there also wouldn't be a silver lining, as the Bucks don't own their pick in the 2027 NBA Draft. It would be miserable.

Any goals Milwaukee has require a healthy Tyler Herro.

Tyler Herro has so much riding on this season

One could argue that Herro has the most to prove of any Milwaukee Buck this season. After years of scrutiny in Miami, this is his opportunity to show what he can do in a bigger role. Tied directly to his performance will be how big of a contract extension the guard could be looking at next summer. Of course, he'll always say he's putting the team first, but that next deal will be in the back of his mind.

If he spends a good chunk of the year on the sidelines like last season, contract talks will become as complicated as ever. The Milwaukee Bucks, or anyone, for that matter, would likely be hesitant to hand him a lucrative extension after back-to-back years missing significant time. That's why it's so dire that he enters the season ready to roll as he tackles the biggest challenge of his career to date.
