Milwaukee Bucks: Malcolm Brogdon unanimously selected to Rookie First Team
By Adam McGee
Ahead of Monday night’s NBA awards, Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon has been unanimously selected to the All-Rookie First Team.
With many believing the first annual NBA Awards Show on Monday night will see Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon take home the league’s Rookie of the Year award for the recently completed season, there was further good news to start the day.
Although it wasn’t necessarily surprising, the NBA has announced that Malcolm Brogdon has been unanimously selected to the All-Rookie First Team for the 2016-17 season.
The only other player to receive a unanimous selection was one of Brogdon’s reported rivals for Rookie of the Year, Philadelphia 76ers forward Dario Saric.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid — the other Philadelphia big man rumored to be in the mix for Rookie of the Year — made the team with a total of 89 votes. Seven of those votes placed Embiid on the Second team, while 11 voters left the oft-injured center off their ballot entirely.
Although there are no guarantees, it would seem like a logical next step to assume that Embiid’s Rookie of the Year case may even be a little bit more shaky than many anticipated. If that turns out to be true, the award — which will be unveiled on Monday night live on TNT — could be a battle between Brogdon and Saric.
Brogdon’s selection to the All-Rookie First Team marks the Bucks’ first All-Rookie selection since Giannis Antetokounmpo made the second team back in 2013-14.
It’s also the first All-Rookie First Team selection the Bucks have had as a franchise since Brandon Jennings in 2009-10, and just the 11th Rookie team selection the Bucks have had in total.
A full breakdown of the teams can be found in the tweet below:
Thon Maker was Milwaukee’s other rookie last season, and although his strong play and meaningful opportunities came on very late in the season, the Australian big man still managed to pick up three votes of his own.
The hope for Bucks fans and the organization itself will be for this to mark the start of an awards-packed day.
