With the Milwaukee Bucks in need of depth at the center position and working with minimal flexibility in terms of cap space, who are the low cost targets they should look at ahead of the trade deadline?

The Milwaukee Bucks approach the NBA’s February 8 trade deadline with an obvious need for reinforcements at center.

Since trading Greg Monroe earlier in the season, the Bucks have been left with only John Henson and Thon Maker as centers on fully fledged NBA deals, although Marshall Plumlee has offered support via his two-way contract of late.

As the league’s worst rebounding team, and with two big men of a similarly slim profile, Milwaukee could certainly use an injection of size, strength and power in the middle.

While many of the rumors surrounding the team in that regard have discussed players like DeAndre Jordan and Hassan Whiteside as potential high profile targets, the most likely option for the Bucks probably remains a rotation big man rather than a star that would require significant roster shake-up.

Considering the Bucks have an uncertain coaching future and have started to pick up some momentum under interim coach Joe Prunty, it would seem wise to avoid any major roster overhauls unless a deal was too good to pass up.

That would leave the Bucks in the market for a lower profile, lower cost center, and there are plenty of good candidates. Milwaukee was said to have interest in JaVale McGee or Zaza Pachulia, and there are certainly other players who fit that kind of mold and may be even more intriguing.

So, without further ado, let’s look at some of the centers that Bucks general manager Jon Horst should consider making phone calls about.
