The Miami Heat's rumored offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo has been revealed, and, for some reason, it does not include Kasparas Jakucionis. Per insider Jake Fischer (subscription required), the belief is that Miami's current package for the Greek Freak includes Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jacquez Jr., and an assortment of draft capital. No Jakucionis? Really? The Bucks should demand him.
Bucks must pounce on Heat's underrated piece
Is Jakucionis the best player Miami has to offer? No. One could argue he's the worst among everyone mentioned. However, that shouldn't be surprising considering he's a rookie who just turned 20. There is no denying his potential. He's the type of piece who could get overlooked in this trade but end up becoming a major contributor down the line.
The Lithuanian has all of the tools. At 6-foot-5, 200 lbs, Jakucionis is big for the point guard position, which adds to his intrigue. On the court, he's an excellent perimeter shooter and could develop into a pristine floor general if given a larger opportunity, which the Milwaukee Bucks could offer him in a world without Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Considering that the Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly been looking at basically all of the top guards in the upcoming draft class, why wouldn't they ask Miami for Jakucionis? It's clear that they are on the hunt for depth, and even if they are dead set on drafting a guard, it wouldn't hurt to add a soon-to-be sophomore to beef up the backcourt further. They should demand him.
Miami would more than likely oblige
The Heat want Giannis. Badly. The inclusion of Kasparas Jakucionis in a package isn't something that will make them say no, in all likelihood. That is especially true knowing that if Miami backs out, there is a good chance the Milwaukee Bucks pivot and call the Boston Celtics, a known rival of the Heat's, who would rub salt in their wounds after missing out on another elite superstar.
Miami might want to keep the 20-year-old—they will need all of the depth they can get their hands on if they pull off a Giannis trade—but he should be a dealbreaker for the Bucks. If the Bucks did indeed play hardball, Miami would cave. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson previously reported that the Heat would include anyone not named Bam Adebayo in a Giannis trade. Hold their feet to the fire, Bucks.
