Ahead of next month's draft, the Milwaukee Bucks have five prospects on their workout list thus far, with more to surface in the coming weeks. With three seniors, one junior, and one sophomore among the players they are checking out at the moment, the Bucks are clearly looking at bringing aboard an experienced collegiate player with their upcoming 47th pick, as they should be.
Bucks should be looking for immediate help in the NBA Draft
The three seniors on Milwaukee's workout list are UConn's Samson Johnson, VCU's Max Shulga and William & Mary's Gabe Dorsey. Texas Tech's Darrion Williams is the lone junior, while Wisconsin's own John Blackwell rounds out the list as the only sophomore. Aside from Blackwell, who will likely return to school for another year anyway, the Bucks are rightfully looking at very experienced players.
If they get the go-ahead that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be back in town next season, every move the Milwaukee Bucks make must revolve around winning now. The 47th pick in the draft or even the undrafted pool might not produce a star, but as evidenced by AJ Green, hidden gems are out there and ready to help if given the opportunity. Front offices just have to find them.
Johnson, a two-time NCAA Champion at UConn, could be the athletic big man the Bucks have been needing for quite some time. Shulga could give Milwaukee a lift in the backcourt as Damian Lillard is out due to injury. Dorsey is an electric perimeter shooter, and the Bucks can never have too many of those. Williams is a do-it-all forward who could be a second-unit sparkplug.
The Milwaukee Bucks have plenty of roster holes heading into the offseason, and any of these names could be useful in helping try to patch them.
To be clear, just because a player is older does not mean they are better. Sometimes, it takes away from their potential. However, unlike their thought process last season, the Bucks aren't in a position where they can bank on potential. A more polished contributor who could potentially help the team sooner rather than later is worth taking a flyer on, and this upcoming draft class is full of them.
John Tonje, Koby Brea, and Hunter Sallis, are a handful of other names who fit the same criteria that the Milwaukee Bucks should absolutely get in for a pre-draft workout.
