The Miami Heat should be very worried. The South Sentinel's Ira Winderman reported on the Joe Rose Show that the Boston Celtics are actively looking for a third team to acquire star Jaylen Brown in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, which could ruin Miami's entire offseason. One team lurking is the Atlanta Hawks, who have an incredibly desirable asset stash that could appeal to Milwaukee.
Hawks are rumored to covet Brown
In May, when rumors first surfaced that the Celtics could be eyeing Giannis, NBA insider Marc Stein (subscription required), reported that the Hawks, along with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, could be Brown suitors. All of those teams have interesting assets to offer, but the Hawks stand as one of the more interesting due to their upcoming draft pick.
The Hawks hold the eighth overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft and will have a golden opportunity to pick up an impact player. Perhaps the ability to acquire that pick, in addition to everything else they would get, in a three-team trade with Boston is more captivating to Milwaukee than what the Heat are currently putting on the table. At the very least, the Miami Heat should be sweating.
Bucks are rumored to be eyeing a trade up
A report that should further terrify the Heat is that Jake Fischer (subscription required) recently said that the Bucks have left people with the impression that they would like to trade up in the draft. If the team can get the eighth overall pick and still have their 10th selection, that would put them in a better position to add two impact players rather than 10th and 13th, like they would in Miami's scenario.
Of course, the eighth overall pick alone won't be enough to grab Milwaukee's attention. Miami's offer might not be perfect, but it's desirable. Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jamie Jacquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis, who should absolutely be included in any Giannis trade, would be a solid way to start a rebuild in a world without the Greek Freak.
For now, everyone is waiting to see what the Milwaukee Bucks value. Will it be Miami's pick and player-heavy package? Will it be something like Atlanta's top pick? Is there another dark horse suitor lurking in the background? No one really knows. The Milwaukee Bucks still have time to figure it out, but the entire NBA is on its toes.
