People around the NBA are expecting Giannis Antetokounmpo to land with the Miami Heat. According to The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm (subscription required), agents and executives have come to the conclusion that Miami will be Giannis' next team after a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks comes this summer. The Heat may finally get their wish.

Heat are knocking on the door of a Giannis trade

Per Amick and Nehm, Giannis remains impressed and interested in the culture in Miami. There is a level of mutual interest there. That should be music to the Heat's ears, given that they've been trying to acquire the forward for years. Now, after all this time, there is a legitimate chance they could land a top-five player. Things are certainly shifting in their favor.

The biggest obstacle is whether someone else could outbid Miami, turning Milwaukee's attention to another squad as a partner. However, right now, that doesn't seem likely. By all accounts, teams don't appear eager to gut their rosters to trade for a superstar. Cleveland, Orlando, Atlanta, and a handful of other East squads appear content staying with their current group.

That's bad news for the Bucks, who should want the market to be full of teams calling about Giannis. Instead, if Miami is among the only teams calling, and Giannis wants Miami, it will be the Heat who are the biggest winners here.

Heat's Giannis trade offer is nothing to scoff at

Very few times does the team trading a superstar immediately get an adequate trade package, but a solid return awaits if the Milwaukee Bucks trade Giannis to the Heat. Tyler Herro, who could be flipped for more assets or kept, is a former All-Star. Kel'el Ware is a legitimately talented blue-chip prospect. Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic are fine rotational players.

The draft capital would help ease the pain as well. In addition to the 13th overall pick in the 2026 draft, Miami can offer multiple firsts and swaps within the next few years. For a Milwaukee team that would enter a rebuilding/retooling phase after a possible trade, those picks could be useful, especially as Giannis Antetokounmpo begins to age.

Trading Giannis would be tough to stomach, but they would at least have some nice pieces left in the aftermath of a deal with the Heat. Nothing is set in stone yet, though. The door is still open for him to continue his career in Milwaukee. However, until he agrees to put pen to paper on an extension, there will be no shortage of speculation.
