Former Bucks guard's latest eye-catching claim reveals while he's still unsigned
By Dalton Sell
After a busy opening few weeks, NBA Free Agency has quieted down lately, and there are still a few Milwaukee Bucks available on the market.
Perhaps the best among them is Patrick Beverley, who came over at the trade deadline last season and worked his way into the starting lineup, becoming a key cog. Despite his quality play, Beverley's hand has not inked any signatures on a new deal, but it appears that may soon change.
According to the Pat Bev Pod, Beverley's own show, he is currently weighing options between staying in the NBA on a veteran's minimum deal or playing in Europe on a historic, in his words, contract offer. That would explain the hold up, as there's seemingly a lot of money on the table.
Bucks guard Patrick Beverley is weighing his options
Patrick Beverley made it clear heading into free agency that he wanted a bump in pay. Well, based on this reporting, no one was willing to give him that, so if money is the first thing on his mind, he may be willing to go overseas to get it. At 36, he only has so much good basketball left to provide, and if he can cash out overseas before it's too late, no one may fault his decision-making.
With Beverley saying that he's also pondering a minimum in the NBA, one would have to think the Bucks are likely among the suitors. Though they added Delon Wright, beefing up the backcourt even further by bringing back Beverley, another strong perimeter defender, would not be the worst move to fill their final roster spot, especially given his familiarity with them.
Ultimately, only time will tell. The loss of Beverley would not decimate the Milwaukee Bucks, as they've done a nice job retooling this off-season, and there are still several high-end guards available on the free agent market. Yet, he was a fine enough addition last season that having him back wouldn't cause too much protest. The watch for someone to fill Milwaukee's 15th roster spot continues.
