Even though the Bucks have now traded away Giannis Antetokounmpo and are left with a hodgepodge roster, they might want to give Jaylen Brown another look. Since the Bucks don't control their own draft pick for next season, they could be best served trying to build another contender around Brown if the opportunity presents itself.
Jaylen Brown surprisingly makes sense in Milwaukee
There are multiple ways that the Bucks can benefit from getting involved in a trade involving Brown, but him actually landing in Milwaukee is an overlooked possibility. The Bucks could not only relish his services as a team without their own draft pick, but also provide a rare opportunity for him to be an unquestioned first option once again.
After Brown's postseason ended in a disappointing first-round loss, he made comments about how last season was his favorite of his career. It's worth noting that it was the only season where he led the Celtics in scoring, thanks in large part to Jayson Tatum's injury. But Tatum has now returned and Boston moved away from a Brown-centric offense by the end of the season.
There aren't many other teams around the league outside of obvious tankers where Brown could walk in and be the primary scorer either. But Milwaukee could be the rare exception that lets him play his preferred style while still trying to win games. Brown already showed last season that he can score effectively even with a limited supporting cast, so he would be right in his element on the Bucks.
The Bucks might have alluring trade assets for the Celtics
Of course, a trade has to go both ways and the Bucks don't have a ton of win-now pieces that could interest the Celtics. However, Milwaukee does have a surprisingly deep center rotation that could help the Celtics add more size and contend with the East's physical teams. Myles Turner is the current headliner and he would fit right into Boston playing Kristaps Porzingis' old role.
The Celtics could also value Tyler Herro as another shooter and ball-handler that fits well into their existing team identity. Herro has always been a very confident outside shooter and his offensive repertoire is right in line with the Celtics' ideal guard traits.
It seems that Jaylen Brown's departure from the Celtics is inevitable after he was dangled as a Giannis trade piece. Ironically, landing him in Milwaukee even without Giannis in return could now be the best path for both Brown and the Celtics. If the Bucks can put together a worthy trade offer, Brown wouldn't be a bad option to lead the team in a transitory period before they regain control of their own draft position.
